Need to quickly remove the background of an image for some reason? Great, that is why this guide exists. You are pretty lucky that I enjoy removing every background of every picture I ever take. Go on now … remove those backgrounds.
1. Open the image you want to use
File > Open…
1.5 Convert - if prompted
If you are prompted to convert the embedded color profile. Just convert, I do not use this program for any professional reasons, therefore I am not 100% sure if I know what that means!
2. Scale the image
Image > Scale Image…
3. Free select tool
In your toolbox, looks like a lasso (Yeehaw)
4. Select everything around the image you want to keep
Click click click all around the image you WANT to keep. Try not to double click. click all the way until you get back to your initial starting point
3.5 Appreciate the marching ants
If you made it this far, you should see the flashing dotted lines AKA “marching ants” around the part of the image you want to keep.
4. Invert the selection
Right click > Select > Invert
5. Add Alpha channel
Layer > Transparency > Add Alpha Channel
6. Clear selection
Right click > Edit > Clear
(Right click > Delete)
