I have been high-strung since I was a baby and I know that I will always be high-strung by now. Over time I have developed
1. Remove distractions
Yes, remove ALL distractions, including your phone (if you are not using an app). I know that there are tons of apps on the market that will help you ground yourself. I could find one to recommend but I would be lying if I said that I’ve used one before, new blog post idea!
2. Accept that you are overwhelmed
I chose the word accept because it is so easy to try to ignore anxiety and your feelings of being out of control. Once you are in the mode of acceptance, you should start to feel comfortable tackling what lies ahead. Accept your state NOW so that getting over what you are feeling will be eazy breezy.`
3. Focus – w
hy are you overwhelmed?
This is the best step. Once you focus on the reason behind your emotion, sticking with a plan to overcome your feeling will be a breeze. A plan will change your life! I’m serious, when I am overwhelmed, I write in my journal about what I am excited for in the future!
4. Embrace the moment
YOU ARE OKAY! Anxiety is normal and you will feel overwhelmed many times in life. If you find that it’s too much, I urge you to seek help. I went to speak with a counselor and it helped by having a total professional stranger give me suggestions on how to improve. Sometimes we need a little pep talk that does not come from our family or friends.
