Don’t keep using the same dang default GIMP fonts! Get your creative juices flowing by downloading fronts from the internet that’ll make your project look BEAUTIFUL!!

Objective: You finna learn how to add fonts to GIMP (re-read title)
1. Google "font download"
Google – then choose a website
I went with Urbanfonts.com because I’m Urban (can’t help it)
2. Pick a font and save
Choose font > right click download button > save link as…
I like to save my fonts to a destination folder that will easy to find.
Don’t loo @ all my buniess on my computer but here is where I save all of my downloaded fonts!
3. Find downloaded font and Extract file
Right click font > Extract All…
Extract the font file to the same folder – keep it simple
5. Open Extracted font file and Install
Find font > Open > Install
5. In GIMP - Open preferences
Edit > Preferences
6. Find folders in side scroll menu
Find folders and click “+” button
6 1/4. Find "fonts" and click white paper
6 3/4. Click the "folder"
Open a file selector to browse your folders
7. Find the folder you saved your font in & double click
I freaking told you this would come in handy
Find the folder > DOUBLE CLICK
If it is shaded out – you did something right – click “ok”
8. Find your font in GIMP
Text tool – looks like an A
Use search bar – you’ll thank me later
9. You are kind of done!
Play with your new fonts! Add color, mess with the spacing. size, orientation… whatever your little heart desires!
10. MOST IMPORTANT TIP
Don't forget to merge your fonts to your original picture
Right click text layer > merge visible layers
“Expand as necessary” if prompted
Remember to "export" your image when you are done:
